The first after independence batch of Western Bahr El Ghazal State Prison Service officers graduates Tuesday but the services need another 100 new recruits.

The graduation ceremony takes place at Wau Stadium, Voice of Hope reported.

State Director of Prison Services Anthony Majok Makuei said the graduates were trained and equipped with different military and academic skills in prison related disciplines.

Major General Majok said the state has received more than 200 applicants for another 100 vacancies.

He said the new recruits will start a six-month training soon.

He added that a number of graduates and other candidates that completed secondary education could be sent to the Police College.

Major General Majok pointed out that the recruitment in the first batch targeted only male cadets.

He said that the recruits were drawn from the three counties of Western Bahr El Ghazal state, which include Raja, River Jur and Wau County, in a ratio of one hundred per county. They spent one and half years in Wau Prison Training Centre.

About 50 left the training.
