The new Lakes State cabinet has set security and better communications among its top priorities and it wants to be more efficient in service delivery to meet public’s high expectations.
Benjamin Makuer Mabor is the new Minister for Local Government and Law Enforcement Agencies. He told journalist in Rumbek shortly after taking his oath of office Friday that insecurity is at the top of his priorities.He urged close cooperation between his ministry, the public and law enforcement agencies to overcome chronic insecurity in the state.
Charles Badri Mayan is the young Information and Communication Minister. He told Good News Radio that his appointment shows that the youth have a great role to play in the Government.
He observed that the elders, who are currently in leadership positions, are just laying the foundations for the younger to take over.
Mr Mayan said the youth should be trained to execute the responsibility of building the new nation.
He added that he wanted to improve the State’s communication infrastructure and access to communication services.
Members of the new cabinet were sworn in on Friday at the Lakes state’s secretariat general.
Good News Radio learnt that the newly appointed Minister for Labour and Public Service, Macuor Marial Wo,l and Pur Ciengan Dakbai, the Minister for Agriculture and Forestry, did not take oath of office.
It was not clear why the two ministers were not sworn.
There is some speculation that the State’s Legislative Assembly vetoed their appointments during a special parliamentary sitting Thursday afternoon.
