Leer County in Unity State is suffering from acute water shortage.

Four days ago, the two boreholes supplying water to local residents around the primary school and the market broke down.

The breakdown of the two boreholes is affecting water access in Leer Market, local residential areas and the school itself.

Naath FM spoke to a woman named Mary at the one working borehole.

She says her life is taking a difficult turn because of the water shortage.

Mary explained that she came to the borehole at around 4 AM and her water jars were still on a long queue.

She said people who were getting water from the broken boreholes overcrowd the place.

Mary lamented that many people go home without getting water after spending the whole day waiting for their turn in a long line.

She urged the Government to repair the two broken boreholes and dig some more to end the suffering of Leer residents.
