The Catholic Church distributed non-food items to returnees in Yambio through one of its programs.

Emergency Response Program Manager Peter Saru Paul told Anisa Radio that this was the first time that the Catholic organism assisted returnees in the state.

He said they distributed a blue kit and a complete kitchen set to each household.

The blue kit contained a pair of nylon threads, two bars of soap and two jerry cans among other items.

Mr Saru said the Program is discussing with the WFP to supply food for the returnees and other people under threat of hunger in other parts of the state.

Mary Matiya said she arrived in Yambio at the end of March and she received some food including sorghum, cooking oil and beans.

She said the food was not enough and she does not have relatives in town who can give her support in addition to what the NGOs are distributing.

Rozeta Michael said she was very happy and thanked the government and NGOs for bringing the IDPs back home and supporting them with the basic necessities.
