An official from the health department in Tonj South County urged the residents to keep their homes clean and disinfect and boil water to improve their health.

Lino Mayom Magot, assistant co-ordinator of water and sanitation in Tonj South County, told Don Bosco FM that some residents are getting cholera and diarrhoea from unclean water.

He explained that those diseases come from river water and water from pools and holes dug by the road maintenance company.

Mr Mayom told people to use chlorine tablets to treat the water.

He said water for human use should also be boiled.

Mr Mayom asked restaurants and hotels to keep cooking places and toilets clean.

He asked women to wash their hands before starting cooking and wash and dry cooking tools and cover them from flies.
