STATISTICS BUREAU STARTS NATIONAL WELFARE SURVEY

The National Bureau of Statistics started a nationwide welfare monitoring survey covering the ten states of South Sudan.

Field operation manager working with Central Equatorial Bureau of Statistics James Orium Erkolano told Radio Easter that the objective of the welfare survey is get basic data to help the government to plan and provides services for all residents.

He added that the data collected by the survey can also be used by the communities and international NGOs to plan their activities.

Mr Orium said the Monitoring Welfare Survey covers a wide range of items, including education, health, water, sanitation and network coverage.

He said the needs of citizens seem to be high especially in education facilities and health.

Mr Orium added that in rural areas some mothers travel along distances in search of health services.

He appealed to the communities to give accurate information about their needs to the surveyors to help the government serve them.
