A number of drivers think that fuel is drying up in Juba’s petrol stations due to lack of US dollars in South Sudan.
CRN visited some busy petrol stations along the Ministries Street and listened to drivers blaming the looming fuel shortage on lack of hard currency.Mr David said what was happening in Juba for the last two days was just speculation and misinformation.
He added that people are afraid of another fuel shortage due to lack of dollars for business people to buy gas abroad.
Mr David said people were queuing at petrol stations to get some reserves to keep them running.
Mr Emmanuel, who works for a private company, said he wanted his two drums at the back of his truck filled because it was now difficult to get fuel.
He added that a fuel crisis would be bad for business in Juba because everything is going up due to lack of dollars.
Faith Ketty from Global Petroleum said the station ran out of diesel and the reserve of petrol was low.
She said for the last two months they have experienced difficulty to get dollars and they are very expensive.
Fuel shortages are pinching hard in South Sudan and the government decided to shut down all electricity plants in the country.
