The South Sudan Artists Association today launched a talent search for South Sudanese artists in Juba.
The move was to mobilize young men and women to take up the music career as a way of living and contribute to the development of the new nation through arts and music.Speaking to Journalists this morning in Juba, Evans Maendeh, Executive Director of South Sudan Artists Association said his association is looking for artists who can represent South Sudan at international standard.
Mr Evans explained that a group 23 out of 92 young artists was selected to compete in a live show on SSTV.
He added that the public would select the best artists from each competing group by sending the contestant’s name or number to a special number.
Mr Evans said the programme was intended to identify and nurture the talents of local artists.
He added that the programme was also to empower local artists and be self-reliant and sustain the community.
The three best contestants will receive an award ranging from 5,000 to 15,000 pounds.
