Over 105,000 people in South Sudan are suffering from tuberculosis infections.

Inwar Otieno from the National Ministry of health was in Torit’s Radio Emmanuel yesterday for a two-hour talk-show.

He said over 41,000 TB cases in the country are pulmonary TB, an infectious type.

Dr Otieno said TB is not a curse as most of the people believe in African traditions.

He added that the disease is caused by bacteria and it can be treated.

Dr Otieno said Eastern Equatoria was chosen as the venue for the national celebration of the World TB Day, for South Sudan, today.

The celebration was marked under the theme “Stop TB in my life.”
