Chaos has continued for the third day at the main campus of the University of Juba with students turning against one another and dozens badly injured by stones and other missiles.

At 9 o’clock this morning gunshots were heard in the Atlabara campus of Juba University.

Students allegedly from the Dinka community took control of the campus and were driving out colleagues from Greater Equatoria.

CRN spoke with some students receiving treatment at Juba Teaching Hospital.

John, from the College of Natural Resources, Department of Forestry, still had fresh blood over is white vest from a gash on the right side of his head.

He said he went to the university to check on his things at the hostel after yesterday’s clash when suddenly there was shooting and shouts.

John explained that when he was trying to get out of the campus a student talked to him in Dinka. He did not answer because he does not know the language.

More than 50 students forced him to sit down and they started beating, kicking and stoning him.

John said he was rescued by the police.

Alex from the College of Natural Resources, Department of Wildlife, had also a cut on his head.

He said when he went to the university this morning he was surprised by the shooting.

He explained that when he tried to run he fell in the hands of some Dinka students who stoned him.

He said he was not aware of the incidents during the last two days at the campus.

He lamented that tribalism will destroy South Sudan.

The troubles at the University of Juba started on Monday evening after a friendly match between Upper Nile and Eastern Equatoria teams turned sour.

This would the second time the University of Juba experienced tribal fighting among students. In 2010, a fight between two students from Nuer and Dinka let to an all out fighting among the students from both communities.
