The Catholic Bishop of Wau yesterday officially inaugurated the in-patient ward and the operation theatre at St. Daniel Comboni Catholic Hospital.

Bishop Rudolf Deng Majak, who presided over the opening mass at the hospital, lauded the efforts put by the Church in delivering health services to the sick.

He called on doctors to give love and care to the patients they treat.

Bishop Deng said the hospital will make life more available to the people of Bahr El Ghazal.

Maria Martinelli, the Hospital’s medical director, said the renovation works at the hospital started in October 2009.

She added that the facility has successfully treated more than 36,000 patients in the OPD, the outpatient department, that opened in January 2011.

Dr Martinelli, a Comboni Sister from Italy, added that the paediatric and maternity wards will be operational soon.
