Four East African countries are launching today in Juba a joint military task force to hunt for Ugandan rebel fighters, including their leader, with the UN’s backing.

South Sudan, Uganda, Central African Republic and DR Congo have agreed to form a joint operations task force to follow a regional strategy paper prepared at the request of the UN Security Council.

The four countries are represented in the Joint Coordination Operations Centre and have agreed on free movement of troops across borders to pursue the Lord’s Resistance Army.

The regional task force headquarters will be located in Yambio.

The US has recently sent 100 soldiers to hunt for Joseph Kony and his rebels based between DR Congo and Central Africa.
