The secondary schools in the Yida refugee camps of Unity State are still on standby due to lack of teachers and basic school materials.

The director of Education in the Nuba Mountains, Kuti Arnesto Afjan, said the authorities are working in coordination with the UN-High Commission for Refugees, to provide education.

He said that the schools could not operate in full capacity as it has been planned.

Mr Anesto was upset about what happened to the secondary schools in Yida saying that they were impressed at first and motivated to send the children for studies at the camp.

He said the ministry of education is committed to pursuing education and pledged that they know the suffering of the parents for their struggle to give knowledge to their children.

The secondary schools were transferred from Nuba Mountains to Yida last year but fighting at border region threatens security.
