The minister of general education this morning rang the bell for the beginning of Sudan School Certificate examinations for south Sudan at Juba Day centre.
Joseph Ukel Abango said more than16.400 students, boys and girls, are sitting for the Sudan School Certificate Examinations across South Sudan.He added that the number of students has increased from about 15.000 who sat last year.
Mr Ukel visited Juba Day, Juba Girls and Rejaf centres in Juba.
He revealed that his visit to the centres was to encourage students do their examinations with confidence.
Mr Ukel thanked the Republic of Sudan for allowing students of South Sudan to sit for Sudan School Certificate examinations.
The minister revealed that his ministry is working hard to introduce South Sudan Secondary Certificate examinations soon.
Mr Ukel said if all things go well Sudan School Certificate examinations could be replaced by next academic year.
The minister was accompanied by Central Equatoria education minister, Manase Lomole, Director General in the state ministry of Education, David Lowela, and Deputy Minister of General Education, Rebecca Joshua Okwaci.
