The Governor of Central Equatoria this morning signed the State Transitional Constitution and took the oath of office.
Clement Wani Konga told the crowd at Juba Football Stadium that he will give priority to taxes collection and agriculture in order to close the gap from the austerity measures, Bakhita Radio reported.He also promised to curb insecurity and land grabbing.
The Governor said that insecurity was associated with land grabbing and both were on the rise.
He pointed an accusing finger to the police and judiciary who he said are reluctant to take appropriate measures against the perpetrators of violence due to the centralized system of justice administration.
Governor Wani urged the Constitutional Review Commission to address the issue of the centralized system of administration of justice.
He lamented that state governments did not have a ministry of justice.
Governor Wani regretted also the centralization of the organized forces within his state.
He revealed the state Transitional Constitution provides the bases to address issues such as land grabbing, centralization of organized forces and centralization of administration of justice in the state.
President Salva Kiir Mayardit attended the ceremony together with the governors of Eastern and Western Equatoria and one representative from Jonglei state.
The occasion was marked by many traditional dances; artists Emmanuel Lasu and General Paulino and Wild Life and Police brass bands entertained the crowd.
