KAKWA COMMUNITY HOLDS CHIEF’s FINAL FUNERAL RITE

The Kakwa community in Yei River County on Saturday held the last funeral rite for late Chief Nemaya Guyu in Hai Sobe at his household.

Chief Guyu died on March 2.

Yei River County Commissioner Elia Waiwai read to the crowd the condolence message sent by the President Salva Kiir Mayardit, Radio Easter reported.

The guest of honour Emmanuel Lowela, the Minister in the office of the President, said the community of Yei River County should use Chief Guyu’s death as a uniting factor and avoid problems of border divisions between payams or counties.

He he urged the Kakwa not to leave or forget their culture.

Over 600 people gathered for the funeral rite.

National environment minister Alfred Ladu Gore was among the mourners.
