CATHOLIC CHARITY CELEBRATES SOUTH SUDAN

An international Catholic charity starts today a three-day meeting in Juba to celebrate the birth of South Sudan and make the first general assembly in the new country.

Ilse Simma, who is part of the organizing committee, told CRN that there are over 60 people attending the Caritas Federation Network meeting: 35 are delegates from the different dioceses of South Sudan, four represent El-Obeid, in the Sudan and 25 are international participants.

She said this is the first time Caritas South Sudan hosts the Caritas Federation Network general assembly.

The participants will reflect on the political and social developments in South Sudan. Some Church institutions, including the Catholic Radio Network, will present their development and strategy plans.

The general assembly concludes on Thursday with a workshop on the development of Caritas South Sudan strategic plan.

Caritas South Sudan was formerly known as Sudan Aid.
