The Minister for Finance in Lakes state said many civil servants are ghost workers that show up only during pay day.
Pur Chienggan Dekbai appealed to all civil servants to attend to their duties because the absentees are discouraging committed workers who get the same money of those who do not turn up for work, Good News Radio reported.He promised the authorities will screen the lists before they pay salaries to leave out ghost workers.
Mr Chienggan said that there are civil servants whose names appear in the pay lists of different institutions and that was not correct.
He said that those who are absent from work after some time will lose their jobs to new graduates and returnees.
The Minister for Finance made these statements to the presss after meeting the directors of various State Government Institutions.
