Eastern Equatoria state Health ministry launched yesterday a four-day polio vaccination campaign in conjunction with the World Health Organization and the Torit County authority.
Torit County Executive Director, Cypriano Michael Oling, launched the vaccination campaign, Radio Emmanuel reported.He called on chiefs, community leaders and parents to cooperate with vaccinators for the success of the exercise in the county.
The ministry of Health said the vaccination targets over 320,000 children under five years of age in Eastern Equatoria.
He added that about 1,600 vaccinators were recruited the carry the polio vaccination exercise.
The polio vaccination campaign is a nationwide exercise that started yesterday and ends on Thursday.
The vaccinators go from house to house to deliver the polio vaccine to protecting children from the crippling virus.
