The Deputy Minister of Health has expressed concern over the decision of doctors at Juba Teaching Hospital to stop working due to poor working and living conditions.
The Deputy Minister Yatta Lori Lugar said that doctors at Juba teaching Hospital started a strike on February 20 2012, accusing the hospital authority of not responding to their demands and unpaid salary.

Speaking to journalists this morning he said that the doctors’ strike, motivated by lack of water and electricity at the residential quarters, was beyond the hospital jurisdiction.
Dr Lori added that doctors complaining over insufficient feeding allowances and delay of salary remittance should not strike, because South Sudan is facing a serious financial crisis for the oil shutdown.

He urged the doctors to continue providing their services as the government is working to address the issues.
