EASTERN EQUATORIA MINISTER CAMPAIGNS FOR GIRL CHILD EDUCATION

Eastern Equatoria state minister for Agriculture, Forestry, Cooperatives and Rural Development, has called for girl child education.

Jerome Surur Gama expressed gratitude at the performance of girls in 2011 Primary Leaving Examinations.

He said girls should be encouraged to continue with their education.

Mr Surur stresses that school girls should be guided against deceitful people who prefer to marry them at tender age before completing their studies.

The minister said the government is committed to provide education for every citizen for equal development of the state.

He added that education is the way for development.

Mr Surur appreciated the support from partners in the education sector and asked for their continuous assistance.

He said the people of South Sudan were oppressed and marginalized for decades and education is the only way for them to contribute for the development of the new nation.

Mr Surur made the remarks on Thursday while presiding over the release of Primary School Leaving Examinations 2011 results at Torit East Primary School in Torit town.
