The national ministry of education inaugurated today the South Sudan Teachers Education Program in an effort to improve the quality of teaching in the country.
Undersecretary in the ministry of education Deng Deng Yai told the participants at the launch that the programme will be managed by the Education Development Centre.He added that the project has three objectives: improve policy frameworks and management systems, better teachers’ performance and increase access to teaching and learning materials.
Fazle Rabbani, an education advisor from Great Britain, said the British government will construct education centres with accommodation facilities in 14 counties in South Sudan to ensure that the programme runs successfully.
He added that any education system needs qualified teachers in order to function properly.
The US administration injected 30 million dollars for the three-year programme.
