SACRED HEART SISTERS ELECT NEW COUNCILLORS

The Sacred Heart Sisters elected yesterday a new team to assist the Mother General in the government of the congregation.

The sisters who are taking part in the General Chapter that is meeting in Gulu, Northern Uganda since the beginning of January, elected Sr Marta Drochia as vicar general.

Sr. Marta was the headmistress of Bishop Mazzoldi Nursery and Primary School in Juba.

The other general councillors elected were Sr Agnes Ladu, Sr Mary Lekuru Faida and Sr Helen Lumago.

Sr Agnes was working at the primary health care centre in Kator, Juba; Sr Mary was running a health centre in Arua, Uganda; and Sr Helen worked in a health centre in Isoke.

On Saturday, the chapter re-elected Sr. Mary Daniel Abud as Mother General for another six-year term of office.

The Sacred Heart Sisters, a congregation from Juba Archdiocese, have communities is South Sudan, Sudan and Uganda and work mainly in education and health.
