The leading party in South Sudan has condemned the forceful recruitment of Southerners in the Sudan by militia groups with the support of the Sudanese authorities.

SPLM Secretary for Information Bol Makueng told the press today in Juba that the Government of Sudan is allowing South Sudanese militias to recruit southerners to attack civilians in South Sudan, Darfur and South Kordofan.

He said that four Southerners who were caught in Khartoum managed to escape and told their stories.

They said the forced recruits are taken to Damazin or South Kordofan for training.

Mr Makueng said the forced recruitment of South Sudanese living in Khartoum is a crime.

He added that some Southerners are being trained as suicide bombers to target senior government officials in South Sudan.

He called it an act of naked terrorism.

Mr Makueng denied that the Government of South Sudan is supporting Sudanese rebels in Blue Nile, Southern Kordofan and Darfur.
