A meeting that took place yesterday in the Ethiopian capital between the presidents of South Sudan and Sudan and assisted by the president of Kenya and the prime minister of Ethiopia ended without agreement.

Salva Kiir Mayardit and Omar Hassan al Bashir were unable to agree on a deal to end the current oil dispute that is seriously affecting relations between both states.

David Kong, deputy of mission at South Sudan’s embassy in Ethiopia, announced yesterday in Addis Ababa that no agreement was reached, but president Kiir wants negotiations to continue.

Pagan Amum, South Sudan’s chief negotiator, said the oil shutdown process should be completed today.
