A relic from St John Bosco arrived yesterday in Yambio to a huge welcome at the local airstrip by a large crowd headed by the catholic bishop.

The relic was transported in procession to the Catholic Cathedral and Bishop Eduardo Hiiboro presided over a mass, assisted by a number of clergy, including vicar general Anthony Bangoye and the provincial superior of the Salesians of Don Bosco in South Sudan and Sudan, Radio Anisa reported.

Bishop Hiiboro said the visit was a moment of blessing when the right hand of a holy man moves in the streets and villages of South Sudan, the hand he used to bless people, encourage and demonstrate charity.

The relic today is in Maridi County. Tomorrow it will travel to Ibba parish and in the afternoon is flown to Juba.

The relic of St. Don Bosco is in a world tour through 130 Countries in Asia, Europe, America, Africa, and Australia where the Salesians are present.

Up to now 70 countries are already covered since January 31, 2009, when the world tour started.

The pilgrimage of St Don Bosco’s relic ends in 2015 when the Salesians celebrate 200 years.
