NPA, the Norwegian People’s Aid, said today it will continue to stand in solidarity with the people of South Sudan after it has celebrated 25 years of service in the country.

NPA Country Director Jan Ledang told CRN News that the organization worked hard and took high risks during the years of struggle to help deliver services in health and food assistance in South Sudan.

He added that NPA was proud of its contribution to South Sudan’s independence, acknowledged by President Kiir’s speech during the celebration on July 9 last year.

Mr Jan said the NPA celebrated its silver jubilee in solidarity with the people of South Sudan and promised to continue working in the new country mainly in the field of capacity building.

He revealed the NPA has changed its strategy from service delivery into capacity building so that South Sudanese can take full lead in serving their people.

Mr Jan added that NPA is working with the ministries of health in Eastern and Central Equatoria states in all capacity building programs.

He said his organisation stands in solidarity with the people of South Sudan’s decision to halt oil production but hopes that the two sides find a way forward to sort out issues over oil and borders.
