The Catholic Assistant Bishop of Juba has expressed deep concern on a community decision to sue the Church over land dispute.

The residents of Kasava Block √É”B” sued the Archdiocese of Juba for demolishing their houses, claiming that the act was illegal and asked the church to withdraw claims that it owns the area.

Addressing the congregation at Saint Theresa’s Cathedral Kator, Bishop Santo Loku Pio flashed down the claim by the community saying it was not appropriate to take the Church to court over land issues.

He condemned the behaviours of people who sued the Church in the name of human rights.

Bishop Loku added that the Church owned the land to serve the people and wants to preserve it for the next generation.

He called on the people of South Sudan to leave personal and tribal interests and become a nation believing in one God to experience blessing and prosperity.

Bishop Loku revealed that the Archdiocese is facing land disputes with a number of communities in Juba that claim the land owned by the church.
