An advisor to Sudan Catholic Bishops’ Conference said today that he is optimistic about South Sudan’s progress regardless of the recent crisis in Jonglei state and political deadlock with neighbouring Sudan on post independence talks.
John Ashworth told CRN News that South Sudan is still moving upward and onward on its transition to nationhood. He said it was unrealistic for anybody to expect South Sudan to be perfect in just six months.
Mr Ashworth added that many counties in the world, including South Africa, East Germany and former Soviet Union, had a slow transition even though they had many more resources than South Sudan.
