The Khartoum government has refused humanitarian aid to the needy people in SPLM-North controlled areas in both Southern Kordofan and Blue Nile states.
SPLM-North spokesperson, Arnu Ngutulu Lodi, said the rebels have formed the South Kordofan Relief Rehabilitation Commission to take care of the humanitarian crisis in the region
He added that another forum is due to be created to undertake the humanitarian issues for both Blue Nile and Nuba Mountains as an advocacy group to liaise with the UN and international NGOs to put pressure on Khartoum to allow help to the marginalized peoples
Mr. Lodi said that he National Congress Party’s government is using food as a weapon and that it is part of its strategy for ethnic cleansing and mass destruction.
The US administration announced that it is making plans to send relief assistance to some 500,000 starving people in Southern Kordofan and Blue Nile with or without the consent of Khartoum.
