The South Sudan Bible Society and the American Bible Society organised today in Juba an one-day training on trauma healing targeting church members in the whole country.

Speaking to Radio Bakhita this morning, Margret Hill said trauma healing targets people from different organisations and all the denominations in south Sudan including the Catholic Church, ECS, Seventh Day Adventists, Presbyterians and organisations like World Vision.

She added that the training is not only targeting Juba residents but there are plans to repeat the training in Western Equatorial and other areas in South Sudan.

South Sudan Bible Society Secretary Edward Riek Kajivora said after the training nine members will be chosen to go for further training in Rwanda for one week.

He added that after the trainees returned from Rwanda they would be sent to various areas where there are conflicts so that they can set up some trauma healing processes.

Mr Riek said the Bible Society is mainly working in translating the Bible in local languages.

The training was an effort to bring reconciliation and healing among the people of South Sudan and the inter-communal violence after the independence last year.
