The Deputy Director for Academic Affairs at Rumbek Secondary School said that the recently elected students’ body creates an avenue for them to contribute to the running of the school.
Deputy Director Peter Gum Panther told Radio Good News on Monday that the involvement of students in running the school will help prevent incidents of indiscipline and strikes that forced the school to close down last year.Mr Gum said the school administration allowed the elections to take place so that the student leaders and teachers can work together to administer the school and that problems can be solve with consultation.
He urged parents and the whole community to help teachers to educate the students to respect everybody.
Mr Gum added that teachers have a main role to teach the students so they become responsible to their families and the country after they complete their studies.
He appealed for students to stay away from trouble making and tribal fights while urging them to be united.
