The National Land Commission is training a number of citizens from the ten states of South Sudan on land administration and conflict resolution.

The Deputy Chairperson of the Land Commission, Cornelius Goja Lado Kulang, told CRN News yesterday that the workshop was organised by the commission and financed by development partners.

He said that the participants from the ten states will receive the training on land administration and land conflict resolution and they will go and train others in their states.

Mr Goja added that unless South Sudan followed a streamlined land administration system it would not deliver services to the people at boma level.

He said each citizen must have secure land tenure and services like roads, and this can be done when the areas are properly planned.

Mr Goja added that land administration has been a problem in South Sudan even before independence and the workshop came at the right time to put sound policies and approaches concerning land management.

The Chief Party of the Sudan Rural Lands Governance Project, Tidiane Ngaido said that the first thing his project is doing in South Sudan is to develop the capacity of the nationals as the government is working to build land institutions.

He said it was important for the stakeholders to learn about land conflict resolution and equip them with knowledge and skills so that they can work professionally.

Dr Ngadio explained that to workshop is a training of trainers where the participants will be sent back to their various states to organise training sessions at county level for other stakeholders like chiefs.

He added the Sudan Rural Lands Governance Project has programs now running in Jonglei, Central and Western Equatoria states.
