The Churches were given an inadequate representation in the National Constitutional Review Commission.

Archbishop Paolino Lukudu Loro said last evening that the Churches were not given enough places in the commission tasked with the review of the Transitional Constitution in order to prepare the permanent Charter.

President Salva Kiir Mayardit appointed only one representative from faith based groups to the National Constitutional Review Commission.

Archbishop Lukudu said he will meet President Kiir to discuss a more adequate representation for the Churches in the Commission.

However, he added that to involve the people in the discussions of the constitutional review was more important.

Archbishop Lukudu said the Churches play a very important role in the process because they are in permanent contact with the grassroots.

He added that the Church has a special way to reach people in the villages.

Archbishop Lukudu made these statements during a meeting with a group of Comboni missionaries working in South Sudan.

The Combonis started last Sunday their annual provincial assembly to review and programme their pastoral and social activities under the guidance of Pope Benedict’s latest document: Africa’s Commitment.

The provincial assembly concludes on Saturday.
