Eight burglars broke into the Education Office in Tonj South County last night at 2:00 AM getting away with three chairs.

The director of education in Tonj South County, Joseph Dam, said the thieves surrounded the office and forced the unarmed watchman to stay in his room.

He added that the intruders had machetes and warned the watchman not to come out otherwise they would cut his neck off.

Mr Dam said the watchman did not come out from the room but he raised an alarm and neighbours came to help him.

The thieves slipped into the night with three chairs from the office.

Mr Dam said he was worried about the life of the watchman when he heard the news.

He appreciated the help of the neighbours saying without them everything would have been stolen including students’ kits and other things.

Mr Dam said he will request the chief inspector of police to provide armed policemen to guard the office.

He also requested the help of the police to trace the thieves and the three chairs.
