A student at the University of Juba has escaped a narrow arrest by security personal at the campus.
Riak Maker said he was targeted after criticizing the SPLM Youth League’s proposal to adopt East African syllabus in South Sudan, Bakhita Radio reported.He added that after he left the meeting area he was followed by somebody in plain cloths communicating with the security.
Mr Maker revealed that seven policemen from an unmarked white vehicle attempted to arrest him at the west gate of the University.
He said he escaped by running to the eastern gate of the campus.
Mr Maker revealed that students disappear every Thursday the SPLM Youth League organizes its rally at the University of Juba.
He said Emmanuel Manuar disappeared two weeks ago and nobody knows his whereabouts.
The student called on the civil society groups and humanitarian NGOs to verify and confirm his information.
Mr Maker said his life is in danger and he has not returned to the campus where all his belonging are, including cloths.
He explained that this is not the South Sudan overwhelmingly voted for in the last January’s referendum.
Mr Maker said every Thursday, during the SPLM Youth League rally at the University of Juba campus, many cars are ready to pick up anyone who criticizes the ruling party.
