The Catholic Bishop of Torit has call on every person to work for peace in the year 2012.

Bishop Johnson Akio Mutek told the faithful at the Sacred Heart of Jesus parish in Chukudum that working for peace is the responsibility of all.

He said the home is the fountain of peace that spreads to other institutions of society.

Bishop Akio added that since South Sudan is now an independent nation and there is peace it is high time people offered full support to the Church.

He emphasized that there is no need to beg for relief aid and rely on imported food when the region is blessed with so many potentials.

The bishop appealed to the communities of Buya, Didinga and Toposa to stop cattle rustling and seek alternative ways of living.

Bishop Akio is making a comprehensive pastoral visit to his diocese starting from Chukudum.
