Yei River County has a new executive council since Wednesday to promote development, good governance and transparency.

Yei River County executive director John Mogga told the gathering that the Executive Council is to work together with the County Commissioner and other officials to foster development, Radio Easter reported.

He added that the formation of the council will boost good governance and transparency.

Mr. Mogga added that the three pillars of power are now in place in Yei: the executive, the judiciary and the legislative.

County Assistant Agriculture Commissioner Edimon Gogo said the formation of the new council will help the county decide on the right strategies for development.

He added that citizens in the villages will benefit from the formation of the executive council.

About 13 heads of department attended the formation of the new Yei River County Executive Council.
