Some 93,000 South Sudanese living in Sudan have registered in order to return home.

The Commission of Voluntary and Humanitarian Work and the UNHCR are currently registering all people of South Sudanese origin in Khartoum who wish to return voluntarily to South Sudan, UNOCHA Sudan weekly report said.

On January 1, approximately 93,000 people were registered to return to South Sudan.

The registration of returnees should have ended last week but it is still going on.

IOM, the International Organization for Migration, is arranging trains from Khartoum to Wau and Aweil in South Sudan over the next two months to transport the returnees.

The organization has also hired extra barges to transport returnees from Kosti.

The period of grace for Southerners living in Khartoum ends on March 9.
