SPLA MONITORS SAF MOVEMENTS ALONG BORDERS

South Sudan army is monitoring Sudanese forces movements along the borders between Sudan and South Sudan.

SAF, the Sudan Armed Forces, have been targeting border areas of Western Bahr el Ghazal through air raids that killed civilians and some SPLA soldiers.

SPLA spokesperson Col. Philip Aguer Panyang said yesterday in a press conference that the South Sudanese Armed Forces are ready to defend the territories of South Sudan, Bakhita Radio reported.

He added that the SPLA is maintaining defensive positions directed by the Government of the Republic and avoiding escalation of hostilities.

Col. Aguer accused SAF of still occupying territories of South Sudan some six kilometres form Jau.

He said the situation in Upper Nile remains calm and the SPLA is monitoring the remnants of Late George Athor’s forces.

Col. Aguer was speaking yesterday in Juba during is weekly press conference at the national interior ministry.
