Communities in Yei River County have been urged to increase food production to be able to feed themselves and make some money.

The project manager for food security program of UMCOR, the United Methodist Committee on Relief, Dara Elisha, told Radio Easter that communities should work hard to feed themselves and have a surplus to get some income.

Mr Dara encouraged the youths to engage in vegetables production, bee keeping and fishing to produce food and get some money.

He appealed to the communities to engage in farming, noting that agriculture is the backbone of South Sudan’s economy and a very lucrative one if people, especially the youth, work hard.
