A deacon from St. Mathew’s Catholic cathedral in Khartoum has assured the people of Nuba Mountains that they should not fear the war because the Lord is among them.
Deacon Abass K. had a word of hope to the civil population in Heiban County urging them take courage and trust the Lord who assists the innocent amidst the war.The Deacon called on everyone to pray hard so that God may bring peace to the region.
The Catholic Radio Network (CRN) is a media project constituted by community-based radio stations broadcasting in Frequency Modulation from Juba, Yei, Torit, Yambio, Rumbek, Tonj, Wau, and Malakal. CRN has also a station in the Nuba Mountains. All the stations share the same vision and mission, and are bound by common editorial and administrative policies. All stations broadcast shared programs in English: news, civic education, and other educational programs. Due to the heterogeneous realities of South Sudan, each station is rooted in its locality and broadcasts locally produced culture-sensitive programs in the languages which are understood by the local people. For its outreach, CRN has a potential audience of about seven million people, considering the influx of returnees to South Sudan after the Sudan Population Census 2008.
