AUDIT CHAMBER INCREASES STAFF TO PROVIDE BETTER SERVICES

The South Sudan Audit Chamber is recruiting qualified staff to ensure better services while auditing government institutions.

Steven Wundu, who chairs the Audit Chamber, told MPs today he was recruiting more staff.

He explained that the Chamber had only 24 auditors but last year he recruited 17 and plans to get another ten this year.

Mr. Wundu said the Chanber had to organize a course in English for the new auditors.

He added that by 2013 he wants to have a team of 311 auditors.

Mr. Wundu added that nine auditors working with Sudan’s Audit Chamber were recruited maintaining the same positions in South Sudan, bringing to 59 the total of auditors.

The head of the Audit Chamber appreciated the work done by a team of consultants funded by the World Bank.

He noted that the Chamber looks forward to offer of experts from the African Union and IGAD countries.
