Spain is set to finance development projects in Lakes State in areas of rural development and agriculture.
Ramon Gil-Casares, Ambassador of Spain to Sudan and South Sudan, told Good News Radio that he was in Lakes State to consult with the local authorities about possible fields of cooperation.He revealed that Spain together with other European Union countries will base their cooperation in Lakes State in line with the decision made by international donors to focus in geographical areas in South Sudan.
Ambassador Gil-Casares said his government has already funded the formation of laboratory technicians and some food security projects in Lakes state under the auspices of FAO, the UN Food and Agriculture Organization.
He recognized the work of his compatriot Fr. Joseph Parlade, the Parish Priest of Holy Cross Yirol Parish and said that Greater Yirol will also benefit from Spain’s aid.
The Spanish ambassador said that his country would be prepared to support gender-based projects, recognizing the role of the media in such enterprises.
