The price of Rumbek’s bottled water has doubled due to soaring production costs.

A half a litre bottle of water that sold for two pounds now costs four.

Nile Water Bottling Company manager David Embaye told Good News Radio that the price of bottled water has been revised upwards due to the rising cost of fuel in the local market from 3.50 to eight pounds.

He added that the pound is losing ground to the US Dollar and imported materials and spare parts for the machines are paid in hard currency.

Mr. Embaye expressed regrets about the increase in the cost of living, noting that the rise in prices affects all goods in the local market.

The Rumbek-based Nile Water Company has been in operation for the last six years and has reduced its production to meet the needs of Rumbek market.

The company used to supply bottled water to Warrap and Western Bahr El Ghazal states.
