Western Bahr El-Ghazal Governor condemned the students’ demonstrations on Tuesday in Wau town that led to loss of life and caused many casualties.
Governor Rizick Hassan Zachariah met with all head teachers of Wau on Wednesday. He said the violent demonstrations were totally unacceptable, Voice of Hope FM reported.He said an innocent civilian was shot and a student named Abubaker was beaten by his colleagues. He is in serious situation.
Mr. Hassan added that three students were wounded and many soldiers were also injured.
He blamed the head teachers for allowing students to go to the street and using the schools for their personal interest.
The governor decreed the closure of all basic and secondary schools in the state for one week to avoid further demonstrations and investigate the incident.
