Police and military forces impounded on Wednesday more than fifty cartons of alcoholic drinks that the state Parliament outlawed.

Ikwoto County Commissioner Peter Lokeng Lotone made the disclosure at the Military detach in Torit where the cartons of the illegal alcohol were kept, Emmanuel Radio reported.

The commissioner revealed that he deployed the police after a tip off that some youth had mobilized themselves with the illegal drink.

He said the consignment was apprehended on the way as it was leaving Torit County.

Mr. Lokeng urged traders to stop importing illegal alcohol in Eastern Equatoria State.

Eastern Equatoria state Legislative Assembly passed a bill outlawing import and consumption of alcoholic drinks packed in plastic sachets and day drinking in the State.

The bill reaffirms a ban on illegal liquor approved in 2006.

MPs directed county commissioners to abide by the resolutions and take measures against people who break the law.
