The shortage of lecture halls at the University of Juba represents a major challenge as the institution gets ready to its much waited re-opening.

Vice Chancellor Agrey Abate told journalists after he met the Education Committee of the National Legislative Assembly today that the persisting lack of lecture halls is a major issue at Juba University.

He said the university will figure out how to best use the exiting space when it opens for the overdue new academic year.

Prof. Abate said the University of Juba did not receive any response to the request made by the chairman of University’s Council to President Salva Kiir to use the military barracks close to the Atlabara campus for lectures.

He explained that the request was not followed up with a formal letter from the Council’s chair.

The vice chancellor added that the supplementary exams began yesterday.

The university will post a note on when it is officially going to start lectures.
