A lorry driver working for World Food Programme has stolen relief food meant for returnees in Eastern Equatoria state.

A credible UNHCR source told Emmanuel Radio that the suspect was Biph John Kuec.

The official said the driver received over 130 bags of sorghum, 20 cartons of cooking oil and 15 bags of beans to transport to Torit Transit Centre to be distributed to returnees.

However, the suspect diverted the food to a business store for sale.

Police recovered 45 bags of sorghum and half carton of cooking oil from a business store at Islak, in Torit.

Biph John Kuec, who abandoned the lorry along the Torit-Magwi road, is believed to be on the run.

The police are searching for his whereabouts.
