Unknown highway robbers allegedly ambushed a judge and got away with 60 thousand South Sudanese Pounds.

Judge Kilamba Otto Maniye told Emmanuel Radio that he was ambushed on Monday by armed men near Kor-Hariba on hisway from Torit to Kapoeta.

He added that the driver tried to escape the gunmen who were shooting at them but the car got stuck.

Mr. Otto said the attackers took from him 60 thousand South Sudanese pounds he had withdrawn from the bank in Torit.

Mr. Otto was admitted for treatment at Kapoeta South County Hospital.

However, the driver and the bodyguard of the judge gave a different account of the incident.

They said the judge told the driver to stop the car near Kor-Hariba.

He went out with his suitcase and later they heard some shooting.

The suitcase and documents belonging to the judge were recovered in the bush two days ago.

The money was meant to compensate some families who lost relatives in car accidents.
